I have over 10 years of experience nannying children of various ages. My most recent childcare has been for 2 children a few months older than 1, however the family I worked for in Brooklyn has a child that I started seeing from the age of 2 to the age of 5!
My resume lists all the families I have worked for and you will notice I also have a lot of experience in "fun" children's activity jobs. I was a surf coach during the pandemic, which required me to strengthen my safety skills, and I was a Kid's Entertainer in NY for several years. I know how to show a kid some quality fun!
I have been CPR and First Aid certified in the past, although I probably need to update this. I am up to date on all of my vaccinations.
I learned a Montessori approach to communicating with children in Brooklyn, and have adapted some of those teachings into my interactions with them. I mostly like to offer a child an opportunity to express how they are feeling about something, giving them a few options to choose from (if needed). This offers the child an opportunity to decide how they are feeling on their own, and gives them autonomy in their choices. I often will let a child know that I understand how they are feeling, even if it "isn't time to play with toys right now". I will explain why we need to do something different, rather than just cut them off.
