Hi! My name is Lilia Thompson, I am from Denver CO and moved to Washington 3.5 years ago to pursue a degree in secondary education at WSU. My content area is Family and Consumer Science education which entails learning about food & nutrition, basic independent living skills, health, early childhood education, and so much more, it's essentially modern home ec! My background in FCS helps me provide the best childcare services possible due to my abilities to create nutritious and delicious meals, my ability to create fun activities to guide learning and development, and my ability to teach fun crafts and projects. I also have my certified nurses aide certificate, I obtained this in 2020 from Emily Griffith Technical College back in Denver. This takes me one step above having basic first aid and CPR training (which I also have.)
I have years of childcare experience. I have been babysitting for 8 years, and have nannied for the past four summers. I have experience with children of all ages, from newborns to high schoolers, so I am able to cater to many different developmental needs. My past nanny experiences have typically been 3 children, each a different age with different needs. These experiences have helped me learn how to differentiate activities that will interest each child, and also has taught me wonders of balancing time and creating compromises to leave each child feeling seen and respected. I value spending time outdoors and minimizing screen exposure. I encourage children to spend time reading, completing sensory activities, and I work hard to cultivate activities that encourage positive and intentional growth. Please let me know if you have any questions or would like examples. I am also happy to share references on request. I look forward to being in touch!
