Growing up I worked in almost every area you could think of. At the age of 18 I went looking for something with a deeper meaning. I applied to a group home with kids suffering with mental disabilities, autism, or behavioral problems. The 2 years that I worked there I learned patience, trust, responsibility, dedication, loyalty, and many other great qualities. I worked as a caregiver and quickly moved up to a assistant manager. I managed medication, doctor appointments, meetings with the state, paperwork everyday. Along with everything that came with the position, as a team we cooked and cleaned and made sure every child had clean laundry and also showered. Another part of the job was reassuring and comforting the parents that miss they’re children, that they are in great hands. I also was able to experience the joy of being able to be a role model in these girls eyes. We planned trips, took them to church, took them hiking, to the pools, had them sign up for sports and many other things. I was offered the manager position at the same time I was moving states and quickly realized that I wanted something similar to what I had. I believe that this is it.
